Hi there, Nice To Meet You! Welcome.
My name is JJ and I am a lesbian bookworm, massive geek and blogger of Notes By J. For as long as I can remember, I’ve always loved to read. When I was younger you could often find me with my nose in a good book. Growing up with ADHD meant I often struggled to fit in at school. And reading was my escape. One of the first book series I loved was ‘The Worst Witch’ by Jill Murphy. I related so much to Mildred Hubble.
On Notes by J, I share book recommendations, book reviews and lifestyle posts. Some book genres I love include YA Fantasy, Contemporary, thrillers and romance. I particularly enjoy recommending diverse books with LGBTQIA+ representation. Thing is, I think everyone should be able to see themselves in the books they read and movies/tv-shows they watch.
At the start of 2020, I was leading a pretty normal life. I got a degree, got a job working in a school and moved in with my amazing girlfriend. But I didn’t enjoy my job and it never left me feeling fulfilled. I watched some Youtube videos about starting a blog and it inspired me. I won’t lie, I’d always dreamt of starting my own blog or Youtube channel. So I decided to start Notes by J.
In the day, I would work in my fulltime job. In the evening I would write on my blog. And then lockdown happened. I was stuck in small apartment, unable to see my friends or family. The blog became an outlet and I poured my heart into it. Now I still continue to work in Education and I work in Notes by J in my free time.
Email is the fastest way to catch me for a direct conversation at firstname.lastname@example.org
I frequently read eARCs from NetGalley but I mostly read books I’ve borrowed from my local library or from my own personal collection.
